During the course of pregnancy, would be mothers can face a number of changes in their body especially when one is going through the initial stages of pregnancy. In the first four months it is possible that you will feel a burning sensation in your stomach and it is called as acidity.
Some women also go through heartburn which is more like acidity and is prominent in women who suffer from acidity. Acidity gives a burning feeling in the stomach and it is due to the excessive acid which is formed in your body so that the food can be digested. But on the other hand heartburn will usually be seen in esophagus and along the pipe. It sometimes becomes terrible and will not be able to handle it in any case.
There may be different reasons for acidity as well as heartburn. In most of the cases it is all because of the oily and spicy food that you have. This causes indigestion and then the whole system of the body gets spoiled. Though it is a common problem but still there are ways by which you can keep away from irritation and enjoy a good time. Following are some of the ways:

Do not go to bed just after your meal. Do not lie down as soon as you take the meal. Sit in the upright position for about half an hour. This will improve your digestion system. Try to maintain a time gap of about 2-3 hours between your sleeping time and your meal.

Drink as much water you can. Water neutralizes the acid content in your body and relieves you from acidity problem. Avoid soft drinks which are not good for health

Drink cold milk to reduce heartburn. If you are suffering from heartburn then the best solution is to take cold milk which is quite effective. It will slow down the burning sensation and give you relief. Apart from cold milk you can also try ginger tea which is a substitute.

Go for home cooked food. Do not consume processed food and try to eat food which is prepared at home. The home made food is not only healthy but full of nutritional value.

Follow a strict time table for meals. Plan your schedule for eating food as there should not be long gaps between any meals. The best thing is to eat in small quantity so that you feel hungry after small intervals of time. This is a much better routine which you can follow and you will have no acidity.

Avoid junk food. Try to avoid spicy and oily food, chocolates, cold drinks, fast food, citrus fruits etc. All these things add acidity to stomach.

Do regular exercise. Exercise is one thing which can help you fight with anything. Do regular exercises to stay fit and healthy. Instead of making compromises in eating habits, it is advisable to work out and eat what all you want.
So if you follow the above guidelines you will be free from acidity as well as heartburn problems and will lead a happy and tension free life.
